Why 3 Search Engines Are Enough

By Sherif Ramadan

OK, so you're on the internet. You want to find some information about a healthy diet for you cat. Where do you go? Perhaps you remember the URL of a website that might provide this information, but what if it doesn't have exactly what you're looking for? How do you find a website that does?

Surely no one can remember the address to every single website on the internet and your ‘favorites' can only have so many websites before it turns into a massive list of random websites.

That's why almost everybody uses search engines. They provide us with an indexed directory of web pages, images, video, audio, and other various criteria from all over the internet, searchable by keywords or phrases.

So when someone is interested in finding out more about "hybrid automobiles", for example, they would visit one of the many internet search engines on the world-wide-web and enter that particular phrase to find web pages that contain information relevant to the search-term(s) they've used.

If my website contains information about "hybrid automobiles" then a link to my site would be included in that search. This is one way for webmasters to spread the word about their websites. It's estimated that 7 out of 10 people find websites through search engines (the yellow pages of the internet).

This can be a highly beneficial tool for website exposure and generating traffic. The best thing about internet search engines is that they're free! People can both search and submit their websites for free. It's true that some search engines offer paid listings, but even the ones that do still offer free listings.

Some people think they can increase their chances of visibility on search engines by submitting their listings to a large number of search engines. Admittedly, that was one thing I tried myself when failing to generate some serious traffic from my listings.

With great disappointment, though, I didn't succeed. There's one important lesson I learned in search engine submission.

Don't be lured by those web sites that claim to submit your website to thousands of search engines all at once. Today it is far more practical to submit your website to just one or two search engines and generate the same, if not more, traffic as you would with submitting it to one-hundred or two-hundred search engines.

One of the reasons for this is because some search engines have succeeded in bringing more visitors and generating far more traffic to websites than others. Another reason is because a great number of smaller search engines today use the results from other larger search engines. So it is no-longer necessary to have your listings on so many search engines, because there's a good chance that they'll end up there anyway.

So how many are enough? In my opinion submitting your websites to the three major search engines on the internet is more than enough to generate consistent traffic. I have been through a list of the top 500 search engines on the web and I've discovered that most of them are just taking search results from the biggest listings.

I've learned that 70% of the traffic generated by search engines comes from just 3 of the major search players. The number one search engine, of course, being Google. One website I read about was ranking in the lower 100,000 on Alexa and just by submitting their website to Google's search engine they jumped from 100K to the top 10,000 in just a few weeks. The next two, most important, search engines are Yahoo and MSN search. Yahoo still uses some of the results generated by Google, but both have a powerful drive themselves.

If you still want to submit your website to more of the search engines out there it eventually will bring you extra traffic, but don't expect that it will generate any more traffic than the major players. The important thing is to make sure you've properly optimized your website for search engines and follow the guidelines provided by each of them.

Start with the biggest search engines first and then work your way down the list. Update your websites constantly and make sure your SEO campaign is generating the results you want. Remember getting constant and steady traffic from search engines is a long term process and it requires a lot of work, but it is also very effective in keeping traffic flowing to your website in the long run. Search engines are the leading tool used in finding web pages on the internet. Don't pass up the opportunity to benefit from this tool.

Top 3 Ways To Drive Free Targetted Traffic To Any Website

By Shrinivas Vaidya

Website traffic that comes organically is normally termed as free traffic. By organically I mean people who are looking for information on the internet find your website and make a visit to see what you have to offer. If your website content wins in generating trust within their mind they can become your lifetime customers. Let's have a look at the top 3 ways to generate organic (free) traffic to your website.

1) Search Engines

Search engines are the oldest mode of looking for information on the internet. With millions of websites to choose from a normal internet visitor takes the help of a search engine to find what he/she is looking for.

With more and more website popping up everyday search engines too have evolved their job of "finding" the right kind of information the visitor is looking for using keywords. The three major search engines Google, Yahoo and MSN is visited by millions of visitors everyday and send them to websites that are ranking high for the relevant keywords.

If your website happens to be on the first page of the search results, you get a visitor. Since for most people a "Search engine" is the only source of help, they will bring the best quality traffic.

2) Writing Articles

Writing articles is considered the best way to establish a dialogue with the visitor. Articles have a great power to build "online credibility" quickly. Articles that have been picked up by search engines in their result pages automatically can bring traffic to your website for years to come.

3) Web 2.0

Web 2.0 is a very new concept and has many faces. But the mostly used function of Web 2.0 is the birth of community websites such as Digg.com or Flickr.com or YouTube.com

Community website is a place where the members of the community submit their content in the form of text, photos, videos, audios and other members comment on their creation thus receiving free traffic in the process. community website mentioned above are free to join and have thousands of members actively participating everyday. If done with little creativity can bring loads of traffic to any website new or old.

I hope this article has helped you in thinking about using these techniques for your online business.

Simple Tips To Conserve Gas And Save You Money

By Charles Neshah

Running a car these days is not an easy business; it is expensive and as such requires thorough management of your gas consumption, without which you sooner than later run into debt, have your standard of living lowered or even become bankrupt. Which is why you should be interested in the following gas conservation tips that will save you lots of money.

  • Always ensure that your car is in good running condition. Cars that are not tuned up tend to consume more gas than cars that are well serviced.
  • Do not form the habit of raving your car engine unnecessarily for the purpose of warming up your engine in the mornings. And switch off your engine if it is obvious that your traffic jam will not ease up soon. Keeping your car engine running in a traffic jam consumes gas.
  • Avoid unnecessary journeys; and when ever convenient use public transportation.
  • A car Air conditioner is an added burden on your car engine, use it only when necessary, and as soon as the car is cool, turn off or change the setting to a lower rating. Remember also to keep all windows shut to achieve quicker cooling.
  • Having your car windows open while speeding lets a lot of air into the car to cause unnecessary drag and waste of gas, keep your windows closed to save your gas while speeding.
  • Avoid traffic jam routs, stop and go traffic take a toll on your gas. If a traffic jam rout is inevitable, make effort to leave home early and go through before the jam starts.
  • Every load in your car counts on gas consumption, so carry only what is necessary. For instance, don't carry about in your car the snow chains from last winter. Lave it in the garage till next winter.
  • Do not force your car to speed on lower gear, it is a waste of gas.
  • Remember always that gas consumption and speeding are synonymous.
  • Expensive gas is not meant for all cars. Majority of cars run on regular unleaded gas which price is not that expensive; if your car requires expensive gas, your car manual will indicate so.

All that being said, the bottom line is that you are not supposed to use your car for every movement you have to make. The less you use your car the more money you save on gas. Walk and bike yourself to locations that are not too far. Your car should improve your standard of living, not lower it. Save money on gas consumption.
